A regional statement of the imagery of Montana sparked the theme for this Big sky residence. Taken from the barn shapes and shed dormers of area farms, the design for the home evolved into two pods which could allow the home to be built in phases. Both 'pod' sections serve distinct functions: one for the everyday living functions and entertainment of guests and the other for the more private spaces such as bedrooms and an artist's studio. Timber frame construction was used to accent the exterior and interior design; yet, it becomes a more subtle part of the form because all surfaces inside and out are painted white. This home, located just below Hidden Village, is extremely visible at Big Sky.
