MSU RESIDENCE HALLS

Phase I (the south and west buildings) of this 200-bed residence halls complex was completed in August, 1997. With its high-quality single rooms arranged in suites, the new residence halls target older students who might otherwise choose to live off campus. The project consists of three buildings grouped around an oval green. Design issues included complex site utilities, parking conflicts, meeting sophisticated telecommunications requirements, and integration of the project with the historic SOB Barn and the imposing North Hedges high-rise dormitory.

MSU staff and students were extensively involved through a collaborative process, ensuring that expectations for a quality living environment were balanced with concerns for budget, operations and maintenance.

This project received a Citation Award from the Montana Chapter of the AIA in 1998.
