When I approached Don and Place, I thought I new exactly what I wanted. When I met him at a local brewery, I came with a site picked out and the house plan drawn on graph paper. I spent a lot of time bringing in the details…down to the furniture in every room. Don looked at my plan and graciously slid it under the table and began to draw the house that I really wanted…on a napkin.
After seeing my plan, and asking me questions, Don was able to bring some of my original ideas to life with design elements tied to functional needs, that I couldn’t of ever imagined on my own. He didn’t negate my ideas, he just clarified them.
When the house was finished, Don showed up at my door with a framed napkin as a housewarming gift.
